At Metropolitan, we are public servants who act with governmental authority in our daily work. With this work comes an enormous responsibility to the public we serve to ensure we are making decisions that are always in their best interests.

The 伦理办公室 develops policies, provides advice and education, and helps Metropolitan and its officials comply with Metropolitan and state ethics requirements. The 伦理办公室 also evaluates complaints and conducts independent investigations involving alleged violations of Metropolitan’s ethics rules.

Metropolitan’s ethics rules include those dealing with conflicts of interests, misuse of position or authority, outside employment, 报复, disclosure of personal financial interests, 礼物, political activities, misuse of confidential information and nepotism.

Established by state law in 1999, the 伦理办公室 operates as an independent entity and protects the confidentiality of sources and the job security of whistleblowers, while providing due process for the accused. To promote its independence, the 伦理办公室 reports directly to the Metropolitan Board of 董事, with oversight from the board's 道德, Organization and Personnel (EOP) Committee.
